01
Training workshop rules
In this fictional apprenticeship, Lea learns in a workshop. To describe a requirement, use müssen plus a participle and werden. The modal verb agrees with the subject; werden stays in the infinitive.

The tools must be cleaned after work.
Der Ausbildungsplan muss unterschrieben werden.
The training plan must be signed.
Das Berichtsheft muss jede Woche geprüft werden.
The training record must be checked every week.
The pattern is muss or müssen, then the other information, then participle + werden. These are rules for the invented workshop.
02
What is allowed?
Lea asks about permission and practical possibilities. Dürfen gives permission. Können says that something is possible. Neither changes the final pair of participle and werden.
Die Maschine darf nur unter Aufsicht benutzt werden.
The machine may only be used under supervision.
Die Übungen können im Kurs wiederholt werden.
The exercises can be repeated in the course.
Der Termin kann online gebucht werden.

Nicht dürfen expresses a prohibition. Nicht müssen means something is not required, so it would change the meaning.

The task is supposed to be explained first.
Die Ergebnisse sollen im Berichtsheft notiert werden.
The results are supposed to be noted in the training record.
