The result: sodass
Sodass introduces a result: first the cause in the main clause, then what happened because of it. Like dass, it sends the conjugated verb to the end: Ich habe keine Sonnencreme benutzt, sodass ich einen Sonnenbrand bekommen habe.

Sodass always comes after the main clause, never at the start of the sentence. Deshalb also shows a result, but it keeps the verb in second position. Die Sonnencreme is sunscreen and der Sonnenbrand sunburn.

So strong that: so … dass
To stress how strong the cause is, put so before an adjective or adverb in the main clause and start the result with dass: Die Haut war so trocken, dass sie gejuckt hat.

The skin was so dry that it itched.
Der Lippenstift ist so teuer, dass ich ihn nicht kaufe.
The lipstick is so expensive that I'm not buying it.
Aylin hat sich so schnell geschminkt, dass sie den Bus noch erreicht hat.
Aylin put on her make-up so fast that she still caught the bus.
Das Parfüm riecht so stark, dass alle husten.
The perfume smells so strong that everyone coughs.
With so in the main clause, use dass, not sodass. Do not confuse it with zu: zu trocken means too dry. Sich schminken means to put on make-up and das Parfüm is perfume.

Body image
Ads and social media often show one ideal body. When you talk about body image, sodass and so … dass help you explain how one thing leads to another.
Werbung zeigt oft so perfekte Körper, dass viele unzufrieden werden.
Ads often show such perfect bodies that many people become dissatisfied.
Lena vergleicht sich nicht mehr mit Models, sodass sie entspannter ist.
Lena no longer compares herself with models, so she is more relaxed.
Jeder Körper ist anders, und das ist gut so.
