Use einer, keiner and welche as pronouns, with gender, number and case determined by the noun they replace.

One of them

When the noun is already clear, ein can become a pronoun. For a masculine subject, use einer; for a feminine subject, eine; for a neuter subject, eins. The noun is left out.

Hier sind drei Pullover. Einer ist reduziert.

Here are three jumpers. One is reduced in price.

Hier sind zwei Jacken. Eine ist blau.

Here are two jackets. One is blue.

Hier sind drei Hemden. Eins ist aus Baumwolle.

Here are three shirts. One is made of cotton.

Ich suche einen Pullover. Dort hängt einer.

I am looking for a jumper. One is hanging there.

Compare ein Pullover with einer, eine Jacke with eine and ein Hemd with eins. The subject pronoun must match the omitted noun's gender.

None and not one

Kein can stand alone too. Use keiner for a masculine subject, keine for a feminine or plural subject and keins for a neuter subject. The ending still matters when the noun is absent.

Ich probiere drei Pullover an. Keiner passt.

I try on three jumpers. None fits.

Ich suche eine Jacke. Hier ist keine.

I am looking for a jacket. There is none here.

Ich brauche ein Hemd. Hier ist keins.

I need a shirt. There is none here.

Diese Schuhe sind teuer. Ich kaufe keine.

These shoes are expensive. I am not buying any.

Keiner passt means none fits when you mean masculine items such as Pullover. Keine passen can refer to plural items such as Schuhe. The verb agrees with the pronoun.

Some as an object

For some plural items, use welche in an informal positive statement: Ich brauche Socken. Ich kaufe welche. Masculine direct objects use einen or keinen when replacing a noun.

Ich brauche Socken. Im Angebot gibt es welche.

I need socks. There are some on sale.

Der Pullover gefällt mir. Ich kaufe einen.

I like the jumper. I am buying one.

Ich brauche keinen Mantel. Ich kaufe keinen.

I do not need a coat. I am not buying one.

Wir brauchen Taschen. Wir bestellen welche.

We need bags. We are ordering some.

Do not confuse statement welche, meaning some, with question Welche?, meaning which. In Ich kaufe einen, the masculine pronoun is accusative because it is the object of kaufe.
