Instead of: statt
Statt means instead of and takes the genitive, like wegen and trotz. Masculine and neuter nouns get des or eines and usually add -s: statt des Fernsehers, statt eines Abos. Feminine nouns take der or einer: statt einer Zeitung.

Anstatt means the same as statt. In everyday speech you may hear a dative after statt, but in writing use the genitive. Das Abo is a subscription and der Kiosk a newsstand.

Within: innerhalb
Innerhalb means within or inside. It takes the genitive and works for time (innerhalb einer Woche) and for place (innerhalb Deutschlands). Country and city names without an article add -s.
Die Serie ist innerhalb einer Woche sehr bekannt geworden.
The series became very well known within a week.
Innerhalb Deutschlands gibt es viele regionale Zeitungen.
Within Germany there are many regional newspapers.
Das Abo kann man innerhalb eines Monats kündigen.
You can cancel the subscription within a month.
Die Nachricht war innerhalb weniger Minuten überall im Netz.
The news was all over the internet within a few minutes.
In the plural without an article, an adjective shows the genitive: innerhalb weniger Minuten. Das Netz is the internet, and kündigen means to cancel a subscription.

Outside: außerhalb
Außerhalb is the opposite of innerhalb and means outside. It also takes the genitive: außerhalb der Stadt, außerhalb des Wohnzimmers. Choose between the two by meaning.
Außerhalb der Stadt ist der Empfang schlecht.
Outside the town the reception is poor.
Die Sendung läuft außerhalb der Hauptsendezeit.
The programme is shown outside prime time.
Außerhalb des Wohnzimmers gibt es bei uns keinen Fernseher.
We don't have a TV outside the living room.
Die öffentlich-rechtlichen Sender werden hauptsächlich durch den Rundfunkbeitrag finanziert.
Public broadcasters are mainly funded by the licence fee.
Der Empfang is the reception of a signal, die Hauptsendezeit prime time and der Rundfunkbeitrag the licence fee for public broadcasting.
