Three parts: pronoun, prefix, preposition
Some key verbs for coping combine a reflexive pronoun, a separable prefix and a fixed preposition. Sich auseinandersetzen mit means to deal with or engage with something. In a main clause the prefix goes to the end: Ich setze mich mit dem Problem auseinander.
| Meaning | Infinitive | Example |
|---|---|---|

| to prepare for | sich einstellen auf | Ich stelle mich auf die Woche ein. |
| to come to terms with | sich abfinden mit | Ich finde mich mit der Situation ab. |

02
Refer back with da- and ask with wo-

03
In subordinate clauses and with zu
In a subordinate clause the prefix joins the verb again at the end: dass sie sich mit dem Problem auseinandersetzt. In an infinitive clause, zu goes between the prefix and the verb: sich damit auseinanderzusetzen. The reflexive pronoun stays near the beginning of the clause.
