Als damals Sigma das fast baugleiche F1-2 rausgebracht hat, durch das ihr gerade durchschaut, das hat sich äußerlich kaum vom F1-4er abgehoben bis auf wenige Details.

Anfänger schauen häufig diese zwei Bilder nebeneinander an und sagen, was willst du mir jetzt damit sagen? Das sind doch die gleichen Fotos.

Das Geheimnis der Euphorie eines F1-2 Objektivs, ich muss hierhin deuten, liegt nicht in technischen Kennzahlen, sondern vielmehr in seinem Charakter.

Der Eindruck von sphärischer Aberration, von Schärfeübergängen, von Flaring, von Gegenlichtverhalten, ein leichtes Glühen, das erzeugt wird durch den Look, wenn Licht reinscheit.
The impression of spherical aberration, of sharpness transitions, of flaring, of backlight behavior, a slight glow that is produced by the look when light shines in.

Und hier seht ihr das so ein bisschen angedeutet.

Also wenn wir so ein bisschen Sonnenstimmung haben, dann gibt das auch durch das Flaring,
So when we have a bit of sunny mood, then it also creates, through the flaring,

durch den anderen Charakter der Linse ein anderes Leuchten im Bild.
through the different character of the lens, a different glow in the image.

Und das ist vor allem bei Porträtfotografen sehr beliebt,

weil das eben die Haut minimal weich zeichnet und einfach nochmal so ein bisschen auf ein anderes Level hebt.
because it minimally softens the skin and simply elevates it to another level.

Also das ist ein Grund dafür.
So that's one reason.

Es sind subtile Mikrokontraste, die das eben erzeugen.
It's subtle micro-contrasts that create that.

Und viele lieben das einfach Das Bild wirkt dadurch weniger klinisch weniger technisch perfekt organischer filmischer emotionaler Und das ist kein Zufall sondern eine bewusste Designentscheidung vom Hersteller
And many simply love that. The image appears less clinical, less technically perfect, more organic, more cinematic, more emotional. And that's no coincidence, but a conscious design decision by the manufacturer.

Erst kürzlich war ich mit dem 50mm F1.2 in einer Umgebung unterwegs, die eigentlich auf den ersten Blick dafür überhaupt nicht gemacht scheint.
Just recently, I was out and about with the 50mm F1.2 in an environment that, at first glance, doesn't seem suitable for it at all.

Und ich liebe solche Herausforderungen. Und zwar war ich in einem Tierpark unterwegs und da sind ja die Tiere meistens extrem weit weg.
And I love such challenges. I was at a zoo, and the animals are usually extremely far away.

And yet, I managed to get shots where you can recognize a certain mood.

Was sind denn jetzt eigentlich die Zielgruppen von einem F1-2 Objektiv?
So, what are the target groups for an F1.2 lens?

Und wo würdest du dich einordnen? Ich nenne dir mal einige.
And where would you place yourself? I'll give you some examples.

Der ästhetische Fotograf. Gehörst du zu denen, die sehr auf Ästhetik Wert legen,
The aesthetic photographer. Do you belong to those who place great importance on aesthetics,
[06:37]
auf das schärfe-unschärfe Verhalten, auf den Charakter einer Linse,
on the sharpness-blur behavior, on the character of a lens?
[06:42]
wie sich das Bokeh entfaltet, wie sich Gegenlicht darin zeigt?
how the bokeh unfolds, how backlight shows up in it?
[06:46]
Ich würde sogar sagen, bei dem F1-2 Objektiv ist das einer der größten Points für mich, weil es geht weniger um Schärfe, Unschärfe, um das Bouquet, was nur so einen Tacken cremiger wird dadurch.
I would even say that with the F1.2 lens, that's one of the biggest points for me, because it's less about sharpness, blur, about the bokeh, which just becomes a tad creamier because of it.

Es geht meiner Meinung nach auch häufig sehr stark um dieses Drittel mehr Lens-Flaring.
In my opinion, it's often also very much about this extra third of lens flare.

Also gerade wenn wir so ein Licht von hinten da reinscheinen lassen, dann haben wir bei einem F1-2 den deutlichsten Unterschied zwischen diesen ganzen Kategorien, was dann eben den Unterschied macht.
So, especially when we let light shine in from behind, with an F1.2, we have the most significant difference between all these categories, which then makes the difference.

Und das ist eben auch der Grund für Stimmung und Emotionen. Aber dazu kommen wir gleich. Jetzt sind wir noch bei der Ästhetik.
And that is also the reason for mood and emotions. But we'll get to that in a moment. We're still on aesthetics.

Gehörst du eher zu den Fotografen, die das aus ästhetischen Gründen tun würden?

und jetzt einfach mal sagen, ich weiß ganz genau, was ich will und ich kaufe mir dieses 50mm f1.2 ganz bewusst,
and now simply say, I know exactly what I want and I am consciously buying this 50mm f1.2,

um einfach meine Bilder abzuheben von anderen, einen neuen Charakter einzuhauchen,
to simply make my pictures stand out from others, to breathe new character into them,

den ich jahrzehntelang jetzt einfach nicht hatte und ich möchte einfach mal was Neues machen.
that I simply haven't had for decades and I just want to do something new.

Das sind eher die Fotografen, die ganz genau wissen, was sie wollen.
These are more the photographers who know exactly what they want.

Und auch das ist eine Zielgruppe von einem f1.2 Objektiv.
And that too is a target group for an f1.2 lens.

Oder gehörst du zu dem Sammler, der es rational am wenigsten von all diesen Kategorien erklären kann,
Or do you belong to the collector who can rationally explain the least among all these categories

warum er dieses Objektiv braucht.

der einfach verliebt ist in geniale Ingenieurskunst, in den Alleinstellungsfaktor so eines Objektivs,

dass man einfach, ne, vielleicht Geld spielt vielleicht keine Rolle, du stellst dir die so ins Regal und sagst,
that you simply, well, perhaps money doesn't matter, you put them on your shelf and say,

Das ist nicht nur ein Stack und ihr könnt diesen Nebel schon so gut sehen mit einer extrem niedrigen ISO.

Ich habe hier meine kleine Reisenachführung.

Es geht um das, was wir damit verbinden. Je nachdem, zu welcher Zielgruppe du gehörst oder ob du einfach ein Sammler bist, der einfach die technische Finesse dahinter feiert.
It's about what we associate with it. Depending on which target group you belong to, or if you're simply a collector who celebrates the technical finesse behind it.

Also all diese Menschen werden von einer F1-2 angesprochen.
So all these people are attracted by an f/1.2.

Und ich vermute, du wirst jetzt auch staunen, wie viel man in so eine F1-2 reininterpretieren kann, wenn man sich mal die Mühe macht, einfach ein bisschen länger darüber nachzudenken.
And I suspect you'll now be amazed at how much can be read into an f/1.2 if you just make the effort to think about it a little longer.
