In the south and in the east of Germany, I, however, count towards the next full hour. This means the time between 5 and 6 is always referred to as 6, and 6 is the reference here. This time is called, for example, in the south and east of Germany, quarter to 6.

Und Viertel 6 heißt, man hat eine Viertelstunde von der 6 voll.
And quarter to 6 means you have a quarter of an hour until 6 is up.

This is a bit confusing. But you can perhaps remember that you just learn one way of speaking, and most Germans will understand you with it.
